Amazon.com Launches Short Story Imprint Called StoryFront

Amazon Publishing announced that it has launched a new short story imprint called StoryFront. It will also feature a new digital literary journal called Day One. The weekly publication will showcase short fiction and poetry from emerging writers.

Daphne Durham, Publisher of Adult Trade and Children's Group, said in a statement, "Based on the continued success of short fiction on Kindle as well as the enthusiastic response to Day One -- we received thousands of subscriptions in the first week -- we know readers are hungry for short stories and excited about exploring new genres. With StoryFront, we're feeding that enthusiasm by offering a wide range of stories curated by a team of editors who are committed to the craft."

The new imprint will will offer short stories on an individual basis, as well as a variety of other works. Some of the stories originally published in Day One will be available for purchase a la carte. One of the first Day One authors to have her story sold individually is Clare Beams. Her story "The Saltwater Cure" will be for sale under the new imprint which will feature stories from bestselling authors and new authors.

Some of the works featured in the new imprint include "A Bite of Strawberry," by William Lashner, "Museum of Literary Souls" by John Connolly, "Farmer One" by Christian Cantrell, and "The 12 Days of Christmas," which is a series created by authors Gemma Halliday, Kim Law, HP Mallory, Kathleen Bacus, Diane Kelly, Susan Donovan, Kyra Davis, Amanda Brice, Angie Fox, Robin Kaye, Jana DeLeon, and Leslie Langtry.

StoryFront will also publish foreign short stories in English Translation. The imprint joins Amazon's growing list of imprints including 47North, AmazonCrossing, AmazonEncore, Amazon Publishing, Grand Harbor, Jet City Comics, Kindle Worlds, Lake Union, Little A, Montlake Romance, Skyscape, Thomas & Mercer, and Two Lions.
